Emergency Dentistry

Recognizing when you're dealing with a dental emergency is an important part of caring for your smile. There's no telling when an accident is going to occur, which is why we want to help inform you how to protect your teeth, gums, and facial area and when to address an instance as an emergency.

Generally, dental emergencies are related to chips, cracks, and breaks within a tooth, including a tooth that potentially falls out! You may never know when these instances can occur until it's happened! You could be eating and bite into a tough piece a food, you could trip and fall, or you could be participating in a sport that results in tough impact, causing enough force to greatly damage your tooth.

Searching for immediate medical attention when you experience an emergency dental situation is necessary in order to keep the tooth from being completely lost. If the chip or crack is severe, where a majority of the tooth is missing, contacting your emergency dentist is the next best option.

Complete tooth loss needs to be addressed by a professional as soon as possible. Try handling it as little as possible; if you are unable to comfortably put it back in the empty socket, keep it in a container of milk or saliva in order to keep it healthy until you're able to visit your our office.

If you're unsure if you're dealing with an emergency situation, don't be afraid to give your dentist a call anyway! Our office will be able to help you decipher if your particular dental issue needs to be addressed immediately or if it can wait until a newly scheduled appointment.
